Poppy Vest(detail)

Diane's Notes on the Poppy Vest:
This was one of my first asymmetrical designs: the two vest front panels having different designs. These turn out to be much more interesting to stitch, and they've pointed out a lesson in tweeding:
- If you use two very different colors or shades in your needle at one time the result is very "fur"-like, perfect for doing animals and rough surfaces. If, however, you want the rich smooth surface of, for example, a flower petal, the two shades need to be very close in value.
In this almost totally tent stitched design, the decorative stitch was not to be denied. The center of the poppy looks like (and is) a spider stitch!
