Single Wedding Ring Quilt Portrait

A JPEG Picture of the Needlepointed Single Wedding Ring Quilt Portrait

Diane's Notes on Single Wedding Ring:

I was happy to find this quilt pattern because I wanted to do a design using stitches that look like lace. I discovered early that many patterns became lace-like whan part of the pattern was simply left unstitched. Lace is, after all, the play between positive and negative space.

I also discovered that almost any decorative pattern can become a border or ribbon pattern as in the lattices connecting these quilt blocks:

Select out one of the motifs, repeat that motif in a single row and band it on either side with a straight or decorative edge.

The unsuccessful part of this design, I believe, is the "Cherish Each Other" text surrounded by a pattern that sonewhat swallows up the letters.

This piece also shows an example of how to double the size of each quilt block using the same quilt stitch (see the quilt sampler), but each square of the quilt block is made up of 4 quilt stitch squares.
