Karron Killia designs boxes worked on 14-count perforated paper. Both the top and bottom of the boxes are stitched for a three dimensional stitchery.
" The boxes come in kit form which consists of the chart, perforated paper, a liner and excellent instructions (both written and visual). The boxes are cross-stitched on 14-count perforated paper leaving a two-stitch area unstitched on all fours corners. When the top or bottom is stitched, the perforated paper is cut around the perimeter of the stitched areas following the chart instructions. Then the area of the corners is cut out according to the chart directions, creating a flap to fold under the adjacent side. The box is formed by folding the sides and placing the flap cut on one side of each corner under the unstitched area. The final cross-stitches are completed through both the flap and the unstitched area forming a secure corner. Once the corners are stitched together, the edge of the box is finished by laying a length of floss around the outside edge and whip stitching in every other hole. The liner, cut out using an x-acto knife and metal straight edge, is glued in place to provide a very stable, hefty feel to the box. The liner is acid free so you will be creating an heirloom piece. While all this might sound complicated, it is a very self-evident process that is well detailed in the visual instructions. "
